This is a second-hand copy of the book James Fletcher: Builder by Neil Robinson. It is a hardcover with dust jacket.

From the inside flap:

In 1908 a young Scotsman arrived in Dunedin from Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, with a set of carpenter's tools, a few pounds in the bank and a boundless store of optimism. Sixty years later Sir James Fletcher was honoured as founder-president of Fletchers, one of New Zealand's greatest industrial enterprises, a firm which had played a major part not only in building construction but in the development of New Zealand's modern secondary industry. This is the story of a man with faith in his adopted country, a man whose warmth, basic simplicity and straightforward outlook won him friends in every grade of society. Jim Fletcher enjoyed living dangerously and was always ready to back his judgement. His story sheds new light on the depression years, on the election of the first Labour government, on the dramatic background to the Second World War. During the most critical war years he was Commissioner of Defence Construction, responsible only to the Prime Minister, Peter Fraser. This is no staid biography but the picture of a delightful personality, robust in his humour, at times devastatingly frank in his comments but always warm and tolerant.

Condition: this is a used book. The book is in good condition with a good spine and little wear. The only issue with the book is some age spots/foxing on the outside edge and the first few pages front and back. The dust jacket has some wear but mostly around the edges. Some creases. Original retailer's sticker on the inside flap of dust jacket. It is now protected by a non-adhesive PVC cover. This can be removed at any time as it is only held there by the PVC being folded over it.
