The book is a tribute to the late Ngati Whakaue kaumatua Mitai Rolleston who dedicated the last twenty-five years of his life in service to his iwi Ngati Whakaue. It is focused on Mitai's work for his Iwi as chairman for the Te Taumata o Ngati Whakaue Iho Ake as well as his role as kaumatua. It provides a background into many of the initiatives set up by the Taumata such as Te Paepae wananga o Ngati Whakaue and the setting up of the early childcare centers Te Puna Akoranga and Mokopuna Te Ao Kapurangi. The book features memoirs and tributes from many of the Ngati Whakaue and Rotorua people he worked with such as Te Ururoa Flavell, Monty Morrison, Kingi Biddle, Scotty Morrison, Maureen Jehly, Paul Tapsell, Reverend, Trevor Maxwell, ex Rotorua mayor Kevin Winters, Sir Toby Curtis, Makoha Gardiner, Roana Bennett, Ngaire Whata, Angus Macfarlane, Norma Sturely, Pihopa Kingi, Angus Macfarlane and many others. The book begins with Mitai's own writing as he reminisces of his early years growing up at Maketu, his student life at Hato Petera, his later university years, and then the years he dedicated to his Iwi. It features photographs of all 39 contributors as well as some of their own life stories and memoirs of Mitai. At the heart of this book is an unwavering love for Ngati Whakaue that is reflected in the voices of those chosen to write.
