More than 280 cap badges for both regular and yeomanry units of the British Army at the outbreak of WWI are illustrated and described in this collectors' guide from Arms and Armour Press. The guide is based on the Army List of August 1914 as it related to mounted regiments. However, to assist with badge identification many badges issued before and after WWI have been included. At the out-break of WWI the British cavalry establishment was made up of five regiments heavy cavalry, 13 of medium, which included lancers and dragoons, plus 13 hussar regiments. Following the introduction and a bibliography the sequence of badge illustrations covers cavalry, yeomanry, officers, sleeve and coller badges with buttons completing the illustrations, There is a three page appendix covering regimental uniform details as at August 1914 and including facings and station. There is an order of precedence listing for the 54 regiments of yeomanry, plus index.
