Challenge Me The Race - Mike Hawthorn

This is a second-hand copy of Challenge Me The Race by Mike Hawthorn. It was published by William Kimber And Co. Limited. This is the sixth edition from 1959.

“Probably Mr. Hawthorn's most controversial race was that at Le Mans in 1955, when he was a participant (himself unscathed) in the incident which caused a Mercedes to fly from the track into a crowd of spectators, creating a three-figure casualty list. But the book does not dwell excessively on this spectacular tragedy: on the contrary, its interest to followers of motor racing resides in its complete coverage of the numerous and varied events in which Mr. Hawthorn participated during the first seven seasons (1951-57 inclusive) of a career which has perhaps not yet attained its peak.”

Description: this is a hardcover book with 240 pages. Comes with a dust jacket. The dust jacket is covered in a non-adhesive PVC cover to keep it safe. This can easily be removed.

Condition: Used. Book is showing signs of wear. There is a 2cm split/break in the top of the spine, possibly from impact damage at some point. There is writing in pen and pencil on the inside of the front and back cover. Foxing/age spots to the pages, especially along the outer edge. One page looks like it might have had coffee or tea spilt on it and then promptly wiped off. Dust jacket has tears and wear as visible in the product image. There is a 3cm x 4cm x 3cm triangle missing from the top of the dust jacket's spine.
